So, what does finding your voice mean? In this context finding your voice relates to how you communicate with your audience. Do you communicate via the Written word, Video, Audio or Social Media? How you communicate with your audience also relates directly to your avatar, who is your audience. and do they like to read, watch a video, listen to podcasts or use social media? So for this challenge, you need to put out content every day for 1 year. Am I going to do it with blogging, podcasting, social media or youtube videos? I am really struggling with this.
In the training, I am paraphrasing what Stephen said. He said, when you find your voice, your audience will find you and you will have the impact and income that you want. This really struck me. Currently, I am not consistent with any of the methods. I have tried YouTube videos but I have not been consistent. I don’t know anything about Podcasting and I am not good on the fly. I usually have to think things thru before I respond. I don’t know if it’s my age or what, but I really don’t get Instagram. 😤 Let’s see, that leaves blogging. As you know if you are reading this I have a blog but I have not been consistent with content and publishing every day. One of my biggest struggles is coming up with content consistently.
The other struggle that I need to get past is that I am not going to be perfect right out of the gate. Developing your skill is a process and it is ok to make mistakes as long as you learn and grow from your experience. I have listened to a lot of training on doing YouTube Videos and Podcasting and the consensus is that you may not be very good for your first 50-100 episodes. The more that you do the better you will get. If it is in a medium that you are comfortable with then your growth will be faster.
There are eight questions that you should answer when you talk about your story. These are described in great detail on page 114 of the Book Expert Secrets by Russell Brunson. Here is a review on the book.
With your story, you take people on a journey so that they understand why you are doing what you are doing. What are the struggles that you faced and how did you overcome them? These are the things that make you “human” and allow people to identify with you.
1: What’s your backstory? This is what gives people the vested interest in your journey.
2: What do you want to accomplish? There are 2 parts to this one. The external and internal struggles.
3: What was the problem you hit with your current opportunity that started you on this journey?
4: What was your epiphany and the new opportunity that you discovered?
5: What’s the plan you created to achieve what you want?
6: What conflict did you experience along the way?
7: What was your end result?
8: What was the transformation that you experienced?
The better you get at telling your stories the more your following will grow. Your story may be different depending on what your offer is and who your avatar is for that offer.
