I went through the intensive Think and Grow Rich course earlier this year. To be honest, I got overwhelmed. I had such great intentions. In my youth I remember hearing a saying; “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”. One of the things that I have learned is that good intentions really don’t get you anywhere.
One of the things that I did accomplish was that I did write my first Definite Major Purpose. I struggled with it and before this class, it still did not quite feel right. I tried to infuse it with emotion but it never resonated with me. Now I am finally on the right track.
The first time I wrote my Definite Major Purpose I thought my Personal Pivotal Needs were Autonomy and Helping Others. I had the Autonomy correct but I think I fell into choosing the Helping Others just because that was the way I was brought up, it felt like what I was “supposed” to pick. I felt I was being selfish if I did not pick it. After a lot of soul searching I have settled on Liberty as my second Pivotal Need. I looked up the meaning of liberty in the dictionary and the part that resonated with me is the 4th definition, ” the ability or opportunity to to act in accordance with one’s own wishes…”. I feel that I am finally picking something that I want, not something I am supposed to pick, or something that someone else wants.
I know that Mark J has said this many times, but as I accomplish these all of the others will fall into place. As I gain my Liberty and Autonomy I will have the opportunity and ability to Help Others to a much greater degree. When I look at it like this I feel such abundance and Joy. I am on the right track and am looking forward to fine tuning this even more.
I am in the final week of my think and Grow Rich study. It is intense. I am also struggling to keep up with the completing of the TGR study and the beginning of the MKMMA experience. I’ve more or less managed to keep up on everything so far. Happy to be on the journey with you!
Thanks so much for your comment. Is always nice to hear from others in the class.
